Scoliosis is a curvature in the spine, often noted by the pediatrician during a routine visit. Scoliosis can be treated with observation, physical therapy, bracing and surgery. An X-ray can be taken during your visit to confirm the presence of a curve. Some small curves can be monitored with imaging to be sure they are not getting bigger. Other small curves in growing children are often treated with brace, which you can be measured for during your appointment. Only large curves are treated with surgery.
Bracing
Different forms of bracing are used which are worn during daytime and/or nighttime, depending on your curvature.
Surgery
Surgery is an excellent way to manage large, growing curves and achieve long-lasting results.
